Hi, I’m Amy Byers
I am a nurse practitioner that specializes in functional medicine- root cause care- with my focus and passion on creating wellness for others, not managing sickness.
I am also a mom to two amazing young girls, a daughter, a sister, a friend with an incredible tribe of people that I adore, and a lover of the outdoors, exploring, being active, and many other interests.
I want to go on a journey together to get you to your healthy, happy place. I’m on that journey too, it is ever evolving. And what a wild ride!
There is a future version of yourself that is so proud of you for starting the journey, maybe even re-starting with unknowns, some fears and hesitancy. Wherever you are at, don’t give up, just keep going.
You will glow differently when your health, self confidence and self-compassion is fueled by belief in yourself, the knowledge and wisdom that you have of your body and mind, and drawn from your own inner resources- this is a true super power.
Let’s take the overwhelm and confusion out of feeling and being truly healthy, whatever this may mean to you. Let’s bring you clarity and set standards personalized to you so you can live your best life.
It is in the simple that the profound is discovered.
My background and credentials…
Vanderbilt University- Bachelor in Science
Belmont University- Bachelor in Nursing
Marquette University- Masters in Nursing
Licensed Nurse
Board Certified Adult Nurse Practitioner (APN-BC)
Advanced Practice Prescriptive Privileges (APNP) & DEA Holder
I’ve held positions in some incredible fields of medicine including orthopedic surgery, inpatient hospital care, emergency medicine, and at my former practice Byers Functional Medicine LLC.
In my nursing school and graduate school years of training and work life, I have had the privilege to care for populations from acutely ill children, refugees, prison inmates, chronically ill patients receiving integrative care, hospice care, and more and A LOT of people who just didn’t feel well… aka, ‘I feel like crap (FLC!) and nothing is working- help me please!
I have had the joy of caring for incredible humans across the lifespan from newborn to elders and all walks of life. This has shaped me as a provider, but even more so deeply impacted me as a human being. At everyone’s core, people want to be well and feel well- the once again simple yet so profound. They want their health because it is the ultimate true wealth in life, it is not merely the absence of disease and symptoms. People want their autonomy, safety, and to be heard, to be seen, and to belong. I strive that my care is mindful of all of the above and I hold these sacred needs at the top of my mind and heart with my care of each patient with the upmost respect and responsibility.
My trainings include with The Kalish Institute of Functional Medicine, The Kresser Institute for Functional and Evolutionary Medicine (ADAPT trained practitioner), Dr. Aviva Romm: Women's Health Functional & Integrative Medicine Training Program and other ongoing trainings with Rupa University, Psychiatry Redefined, and the Institute of Functional Medicine. I love continually engaging in a wide array of ongoing CMEs (continued medical education) and trainings, always remaining insatiably curious, always a learner, a questioner and a reader (a regular book, print on paper is my style!) and long form interview podcasts are a runner up to continually expand my knowledge base.
I am an active member of the Institute for Functional Medicine and The Menopause Society- to remain not only well informed, but also to be part of amazing communities of providers, researchers and thought leaders and enjoy being able to interact with incredible leaders and mentors.
